2021-6-18 This is Fallgate quarry at Milltown near Ashover shortly before it closed after a long working life extracting fluorspar and limestone. The fluorspar was unusual in that it fluoresced. Fluorescence is where ultra-violet light causes fluorite crystals to glow with various colours, usually a milky blue- white.

2021-2-20 Background. Gregory mine is an old Lead mine which appears to have been worked from the early 1700s and certainly continuously from 1734 to 1803. In it's time it was one of the most productive Lead mines in Derbyshire. Little currently remains of the original mine with the only structure still left standing being a chimney.

2021-6-4 Milltown is a village in Derbyshire, located a mile south-east of Ashover (to whose civil parish it has been allocated). To the north of the village is Milltown Quarry, now closed: this was is a small quarry, which was open for limestone extraction. Milltown once had a station on the Ashover Light Railway, which closed in 1936.
